At George Dean, we take the environment very seriously. We work with our suppliers to provide the most environmentally friendly products and continue to work to reduce our carbon footprint by investing in energy-efficient equipment.

We have chain-of-custody certification by the Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC®) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) to further our commitment to the environment by using paper from sustainable forests. Having certification from both agencies broadens the number of environmentally friendly papers we can offer. We suggest the use of recycled paper whenever possible. We continue to use vegetable-based inks and low-VOC solutions throughout the pressroom. Our prepress department eliminated the use of film in 2004 and our plate processing is water-based, so there are no harmful chemicals as a by-product of the developing process.

Inefficient heating systems have been replaced with high-output, low-energy, gas-fired infrared units and lighting has been upgraded to energy-efficient electronic ballasts and low-wattage bulbs.

As technology evolves, we continue to be vigilant in our commitment to be the most energy-efficient environmentally responsible facility possible.
